Beyond the surface- Exhibition Haida Gwaii Museum 2013

I gathered and preserved bull kelp for a year, creating sixteen, seven foot columns.
The purpose was to draw attention and encourage dialogue about the need to protect not only the earthly forest but also the forest beneath the sea.

Ravens quilt was created from a dream I had. Raven asked me to make him a quilt of red salal leaves

Three baskets full a metaphor for sustainable gathering

“She relates to nature, her creations and the visitors in her dreams as if they are living beings. There comes a point where I cannot separate Kathy from the world of art, the natural and supernatural. This is the way of my Haida culture as well, yet I feel a new understanding of my connection to Haida Gwaii when I'm with Kathy” Nika Collison Curator
